EDiMA relaunches as DOT Europe

Today, EDiMA is relaunched as DOT Europe, to better reflect its role as the voice of the leading companies in Digital, Online and Tech (DOT) in Europe.

Announcing the news, Director General Siada El Ramly said:

“In the 20 years since this association was founded, we have seen incredible change in the world of technology and equally profound changes in technology policy. Consequently, our membership has changed significantly; from originally representing online music distributors and digital media companies to now being the voice of the leading companies in Digital, Online and Tech, DOT Europe.

Now relaunched as DOT Europe, and looking ahead to the next 20 years, we will advocate for our shared vision of an innovative, open and safe internet for Europe’s citizens and businesses.

DOT Europe’s members recognise their shared responsibility to contribute to the important debates in technology policy now and in the future.”

DOT Europe has been entrusted with the responsibility to find consensus among the membership on key issues and to engage with EU policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders to devise and implement proactive solutions that work for everyone.

Commenting on the relaunch, DOT Europe Director General Siada El Ramly said:

The world of 2020 is very different to the world of 2000. The launch of DOT Europe shows the commitment of all 19 members to bringing forward real solutions to the challenges we face today, and to those of the next 20 years.

I think DOT Europe is unique in that all of its positions are the product of detailed discussion with its members. These are strong, constructive, consensus-based positions, which we hope gives them particular weight and relevance. The Online Responsibility Framework which we developed in relation to the Digital Services Act is a good example of this.”

DOT Europe members represent the leading edge of Digital, Online and Tech. They produce and manage a variety of products, services and applications including browsers, entertainment platforms, social networks, marketplaces and review sites.

Its current membership includes Airbnb, Allegro, Amazon EU, Apple, eBay, Etsy, Expedia Group, Facebook, Google, King, Microsoft, Mozilla, OLX, Snap Inc., Spotify, TikTok, Twitter, Verizon Media and Yelp.
